Pop Punk Memories

Desiree and I were really into Good Charlotte. We were the only freshman in Spanish III Honors and bonded over the GC patch on my backpack and her notebook where she had a sticker of Billy on it. Billy wasn’t my favorite. I was more of a Benji girl myself.

I would go over to Desiree’s house and we would “rehearse” because we were in a “band.” Mostly, I would play power chords and she would sloppily play drums and we would try to cover any and all GC songs we could. We even tried a Distillers song (“City of Angels”), but we eventually got hungry and abandoned all efforts to be a pop punk cover band.
